Experienced Riders Course Registration

….want to improve your Riding Skills?

The 2006 COG National Rally team is now accepting registrations for the MSF Experienced Riders Courses (ERC) being offered during the “High Plains Drifter” 2006 COG National Rally.  Two classes will be offered simultaneously and will take place on Wednesday, June 28th from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm in Rapid City, SD.  Rapid City is a short 30 mile ride from Hill City.  The cost for rally participants is based on 12 riders participating per class at a cost of $60.00.  Considering that many states charge a much higher registration fee for their ERC courses, taking advantage of this great class would be money well spent.

Reserve your spot today!  Send an email to:  registrationhc-2006@hotmail.com

(Please include “ERC” in the subject line)

Payment for the ERC Course will be collected at rally check-in at the Best Western Golden Spike motel in Hill City.

The South Dakota Safety Council will be conducting the new ERC curriculum which was updated in 2004.  This class - “Skills Plus Riders Course”- is designed for riders who are already licensed and frequently ride.  Riders may repeat the course periodically to keep skills and perceptions about safety fresh.  The “Skills Plus Riders Course” addresses the critical skills and knowledge needed for relatively low-risk, enjoyable, on-street motorcycling.  The ERC addresses risk awareness, safe riding strategies, crash awareness, traction awareness, and alcohol/drug awareness.

Nine skill exercises include control at low speed, stopping, limited space maneuvers, cornering, and hazard avoidance.   A completion card from this class can often earn a discount on motorcycle insurance.

To attend the course, all ERC riders must have the following items:

Long sleeves

Long pants

Boots, over the ankle

Helmet

Eye protection

Full fingered gloves

Bike registration

Drivers license w/motorcycle endorsement

Proof of insurance

Additional items to have on hand:

Anything to help you keep cool (five hours spent outdoors in late June)
