The summary: Ten folks, six Concours, one ZZ-R1200, one VFR-800, one Transalp. Started on the west side of Denver, rode through Fairplay on the way to lunch at K's in Buena Vista. Carl took his Transalp over Cottonwood Pass and down through the Taylor valley on the way to Gunnison. The rest of us rode over Monarch Pass to Gunnison. At the Blue Mesa Dam, some continued on straight to Montrose, some headed up CO-92 along the north rim of the Black Canyon, and a couple of us stopped at Cimarron for a Curecanti National Recreation Area and at Black Canyon National Park for passport cancellations.
On Monday most of us took the San Juan loop, either clockwise or counter-clockwise to see Ouray, the Million Dollar Highway, Silverton, Durango, a quick stop at Mesa Verde NP for a passport stamp, Cortez, Dolores, Rico, Telluride, and back to Montrose. LOTS of great scenery and plenty of curves.
On Tuesday Ed, Phil, and ten others took the advanced Motorcycle Riders Course. I went to the chapel service which was led by a chaplain from the local chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Rick was busy showing folks how to adjust valves.
Most of the group stayed for Wednesday's activities and riding. We'll find out more about that later.
