Webinar Series: Essential Skills Using Garmin GPS & Basecamp

Please register to attend... registration is required to receive the Webinar Zoom link. It will be sent by email 2 days prior to each session. Registration is limited in size and for full COG members only. If the event fills, a waitlist will be used to fill any open slots - first come, first served.

COG members Steve Rutter (NEAAD #9715 4Bikes) and Steve Smith (NEAD #3184, S Smith), will host a series of weekly sessions on Thursdays,  8:00 PM - 9:00 PM Eastern time beginning January 13. Fifteen sessions are scheduled, but we plan to run 8 minimum and will add sessions, as needed. If you have a session topic you would like to lead, please contact us.

The sessions will focus on Garmin (Zumo XT) GPS and Basecamp program. The first sessions will cover the very basics of GPS including how it works, why you need one, most important features, advice on purchasing, installing, etc. As the weekly sessions progress, the topics will cover the basics of updating GPS device software/maps, Basecamp basics and updating the software/maps, loading routes for COG rides, and common issues while following a route. Based on feedback during the webinars sessions, the classes will continue covering increasingly more advanced content such as learning to use Basecamp to create routes and managing Basecamp files. We will also cover other Garmin GPS device applications. The format is flexible, and based on questions and interest, can cover all aspects of GPS systems. The first goal is to get COG members comfortable with buying and operating their GPS units for COG rides. The sessions will mainly focus on Garmin products, but most principles apply to other GPS devices.
